Mountain Walks in and around Boat of Garten

The Cairngorms have the largest area of high land in Britain, culminating in Ben McDhui, which is the second highest mountain in Britain. As a widerness area, it has international recognition. They provide excellent hillwalking for the fit and suitably equipped and there are numerous publications detailing a variety of routes (look in local book shops and climbing shops).

The Monadliath Mountains west of Badenoch and Strathspey always reward the walker seeking a quieter spot; the further south you go, the bigger the hills, with some splendid Munros above Newtonmore.
