25 May 2013
Our ‘Wild about Boat’ Osprey Festival offers a day of wildlife-themed activities celebrating The Year of Natural Scotland, the Tenth Anniversary of the Cairngorms National Park, our local environment and its wildlife. The unveiling of the 4.5m Osprey Feather sculpture will be one of the highlights.
Full details on the Osprey Festival Programme 25 May 2013. To avoid disappointment, book your places on the walks, workshops and activities by emailing info@boatofgarten.com!
The Festival will have a hub in the Community Garden, where you can sign up for: wildlife and woodland guided walks; craft workshops, African Drumming
and pond dipping; story telling, face painting and much more! There are lots of places to have lunch or a picnic within walking distance of the garden. You can also do your own exploring – pick up our trails map and head off on your own.
The Speyside Wildlife guides and a Highland Council Ranger will be on hand to answer your wildlife questions – and remember to bring a bag to take home your purchases from our plant stall!
The formal opening of Station Square and our two sculptures – the Osprey Feather and the Horse and Cart - will take place at 5pm and we hope you’ll stay on afterwards to share a glass with us and enjoy our BBQ and live jazz.
Car parking in the Strathspey Railway car park, but why not walk or cycle here along the Speyside Way or Sustrans route, or take the Steam Train? Extra trains will be running throughout the day, with the first one leaving Aviemore at 8.30am.
We’ll also be running a raffle with some great prizes, including a pair of boots from Merrell, a Justin Prigmore Osprey print donated by RSPB Loch Garten and a pair of binoculars donated by Mortimers of Speyside in Grantown!
Many, many thanks to our title sponsors Speyside Wildlife and to our funders Scottish Natural Heritage and the Cairngorms National Park Authority.
Our popular Pavement Art competition will have great prizes provided by Derwent Pencils! ![]()
